Soccer Dads

While nobody keeps an official tally of goals during Saturday soccer I log an unoffical record of what goes down. Seems I'm not the only one. By my unoffical count the score was 7-2 at the time I overheard some other "dads" talking. Please note that this is a 3-4 year old co-ed learn to play soccer clinic with emphasis on fun. Of the 9 total goal scored Sammy had 8 of them (7 for her team and 1 for the other team). Sammy had just picked some little boy's pocket and is dribbling the ball towards her own net.

Soccer Dad #1: Christ...is she going to kick it in her own net again...
Soccer Dat #2: Giggle. Snicker.
Soccer Dad #1: You'd think she'd know directions by now.

Sammy engineers a u-turn and starts the train down the tracks towards the opposing teams net. The "star" on the other team makes an attempt run her down but gets burried by a timly eblow to his left eye. Goal. Sammy finishes with a sumersault celebration move (not really but that's how I remember it).

Soccer Dad #1 (shaking his head with disapproval): That was a foul. Wicked.
Soccer Dad #2: You'd think she would pass the ball at least once.

Coach blows the whistle for a water break and Sammy, big grin, runs over to me to get a drink from her Hello Kitty water bottle. The soccer dads now know I'm her father. I wink at the fellas and give Sammy a big hug sending her back over to the coach for more fun.

Oh that is so freaking fantastic. My friend just started coaching his 4 year old's team. A must-forward for him!
